Antenatal care is a type of preventive healthcare. It is done at regular intervals during the antenatal period with an aim to treat and prevent potential health problems throughout the course of the pregnancy. In early pregnancy, a panel of routine antenatal blood tests is performed to check if the mother has any existing diseases that may need treatment. Prenatal screening and diagnosis can be offered to check if the unborn child is affected by any congenital abnormalities such as Down Syndrome. During early pregnancy, expectant mothers can consider screening themselves to see if they are carriers of recessive diseases (Expanded carrier screening), to ensure that they will not pass their recessive gene onto the next generation. In mid and late pregnancy, antenatal visits aim at monitoring the growth of the baby and the well-being of the mother. Towards the end of the pregnancy, the obstetrician will discuss the mode of delivery, and help prepare the expectant mother for the arrival of the newborn baby.
Antenatal care generally consists of:
monthly visits during the first two trimesters (from the beginning of the pregnancy to the 28th week);
We take care of expectant mothers throughout the entire pregnancy period, from antenatal visits, to all the necessary blood tests, monitoring of the well-being of both the baby and the mother, as well as the delivery process. We aim to help expectant mothers enjoy every moment of their pregnancy and experience a safe and smooth delivery.
